EMPORIA STATE VOLLEYBALL WINS TWO TO OPEN MIAA/GAC CHALLENGE IN OKLAHOMA

The Hornets defeat two GAC opponents

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 September 15, 2017- Emporia State won two matches on opening day of the MIAA/GAC Challenge 3-1 over Southeastern Oklahoma State (25-19, 21-25, 25-23, 25-18) and Southwestern Oklahoma State 3-0 (25-15, 25-18, 25-18).

In the first match of the day, Emporia State won in four sets against Southeastern Oklahoma State with set scores of 25-19 in a set one win, 21-25 in a set two loss, 25-23 in a set three win and 25-18 to finish the match in the fourth set. The Hornets were led in kills by Tatum Graves and Jamie Hauptman with 11 kills each while Yuchen Du added 9 kills. Allie Maloney led the Hornets with 20 digs. Emma Dixon led the Hornets with 28 assists and Du had 24 on the match.

In the second match of the day, Emporia State swept Southwestern Oklahoma State earning set scores of 25-15 in set one, 25-18 in set two and 25-18 in set three. The Hornets were led by Yuchen Du, who recorded her nation leading third triple double of the season with 12 kills, 13 digs, and 15 assists. Emma Dixon led the Hornets with 18 assists. Allie Maloney led the Hornets with 15 digs.

The Hornets are back in action Saturday at 12:00 p.m. and again at 4:00 p.m. as they take on East Central University in round three and Oklahoma Baptist to finish the MIAA/GAC Challenge.
