EMPORIA STATE WOMEN'S TENNIS DROPS 5-4 DECISION TO CENTRAL OKLAHOMA

Second straight dual comes down to final match for Emporia State

March 28, 2017-For the second straight day Emporia State's dual would come down to a final deciding match, but today the Hornets came out on the short end in a 5-4 loss to Central Oklahoma on the Milton Courts in the Kossover Tennis Comlex.  It was the eighth match in the last 12 days for Emporia State.

The Hornets led after doubles as Amy Fugit and Tahlia Walsh won 8-4 at #3 while Sarah Durham and Kaley Clark won 9-7 at #2 to give Emporia State a 2-1 lead.

Emporia State went up 3-1 as Walsh picked up a 6-2, 6-0 win at #3 singles before UCO won at #6 and #1 to even things at 3-3.  Durham won 6-2, 6-3 at #2 to break the Broncho run and give the Hornets a 4-3 lead but losses at #4 and #5 by ESU gave UCO the come from behind win.

Both the Hornet men and women were scheduled to play Mo.-St. Louis on Wednesday but those matches have been canceled due to the nearly 100% chance of rain. There is no make up date planned at this time.  The next action for Emporia State will be Friday, March 31 when both teams play host to Oklahoma Baptist in non-conference action.  First serve from the EHS Courts is set for 12 noon.
