February 8, 2017-Emporia State was held to their lowest point total since 2010 in a 65-43 loss at #1 Northwest Missouri on Wednesday night in Maryville, Mo.
The Hornets led 9-8 at the 14:47 mark of the first half and were within three at 15-12 coming out of the media timeout with 12:30 left in the half. The Bearcats then went on a 16-6 run to take a 31-18 lead with 3:46 left. A three-pointer by Josh Pedersen pulled the Hornets back within eight with 2:00 left at 32-24 and NWMSU would take a 35-26 lead to the locker rooms. The Hornets were within nine points at the break despite shooting just 30.8% from the field compared to 51.7% shooting in the first half by the Bearcats.
Northwest opened the second half on a 13-2 run to take a 48-28 lead with 15:34 left and the Hornets would not get closer than 17 points the rest of the night.
Garin Vandiver led Emporia State with 11 points and seven rebounds and was the only Hornet in double figures.Â
The Hornets are back in action on Saturday when they travel to Missouri Western. Tip-off from the MWSU Fieldhouse is set for 4:00 p.m.

Jevon Taylor hit one three-pointer to pass Taylor Euler (150 from 2009-13) and Troy Forbes (150 from 1995-99) and move into sixth place by himself on the Emporia State career made three-pointer list with 151.
