November 16, 2017-All 12 Hornets played at least ten minutes as Emporia State picked up a 75-49 win over Kansas Wesleyan on Thursday night in White Auditorium. Danny Hodge had a career high ten points as nine Hornets scored at least five points on the night.
Emporia State scored the first six points of the game and had a 19-4 lead with 12:12 left in the first half. The Hornet would take their biggest lead of the half when Brandon Hall was fouled with :00.5 left in the period and hit one of two free throws. That gave Emporia State a 45-21 lead going to the lockerrooms.
A 10-2 run gave Emporia State a 30 point lead at 61-31 with 10:59 left in the game. The Coyotes would get to within 24 points with 7:11 left when the Hornets went on a 10-2 run to take their biggest lead of the night at 73-41 with 4:12 remaining. Kansas Wesleyan would score the next eight points to cut the lead down to 24 with 2:12 left and neither team would score again until Malik Hluchoweckyj hit a fast break layup with 44 seconds left.
Brandon Hall led all scorers with 11 points while Danny Hodge joined him in double figures with ten points. Stephaun Limuel and Garin Vandiver each scored nine points and Brian Morton had seven points with a game high nine rebounds.
Emporia State is back in action on Saturday,November 18 when they play host to Drury. Tip-off is set for 2:00 p.m. from Slaymaker Court in White Auditorium.
