November 11, 2017- The #11 Lady Hornets won their first game of the season on Saturday as they defeated Oklahoma Baptist in the MIAA/GAC Challenge in Joplin, Mo. The Hornets advance to 1-1 on the season with the 86-64 win.
The Lady Hornets trailed the Lady Bison 17-15 after the first quarter but would outscore them 30-16 in the second quarter. The Lady Bison brought the game within one at the 4:58 mark in the second quarter before the Lady Hornets would take a 13-2 run into the half. The Lady Hornets outscored the Lady Bison 25-15 in the third quarter to extend their lead to 70-48 heading into the final frame. Both teams scored 16 points in the fourth quarter to finish with a Lady Hornets 86-64 victory.
In the game the Lady Hornets outscored the Lady Bison on points off turnovers with 20-16, second chance points with 13-2, bench points with 29-13 and points in the paint with 36-30. The Lady Hornets shot 47.1% from the field while shooting 40% from behind the three point line and 63.2% from the free throw line.Â
The Lady Hornets had eight different players score led in scoring by Emily Miller and Jacee Kramer with 17 points each followed by Morgan Lauden with 13. Tiana Moala led the Hornets with seven rebounds followed by Tyra Jones and Madison Ralston with six each. Jacee Kramer led the Hornets with five assists while Emily Miller added four.
The Lady Hornets will be back in action Tuesday November 14 as they take on Arkansas Fort Smith. Tip-off is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. in Fort Smith, AR.
