HORNET MEN OUTSHOT IN 84-62 LOSS AT SOUTHWEST BAPTIST

Bearcats go ten for ten inside the arc in the second half

January 28, 2017-Southwest Baptist was a perfect ten of ten from inside the three point line in the second half and shot .698 for the game as they defeated Emporia State 84-62 on Saturday afternoon in Bolivar, Mo.
 
The Hornets scored the first six points of the game and led 8-4 with 13:52 left in the first half despite hitting just one of their first eight shots from the field.  The Bearcats then went on a 14-4 run to take the lead for good.  They would take their biggest lead of the half at 43-21 with 2:23 left in the period before settling for a 47-28 lead at the break.
 
Emporia State opened the second half with an 8-2 run to pull within 49-35 with 15:31 left on a pair of free throws from Terrence Sardin.  SBU answered with a 70 run of their own to back up by 21 and the lead never dropped below 15 points the rest of the game.
 
Jay Temaat and Garin Vandiver each scored 11 points to lead the Hornets.  As a team the Hornets shot just .333 (14 of 42) from the field and were 27 of 40 from the free throw line while the Bearcats hit 30 of 43 shots (.698) from the field and were 24 of 28 (.857) on two point shots for the night.
 
Emporia State will return to White Auditorium on Wednesday, February 1 to take on Ft. Hays State. Tip-off is set for 7:30 p.m.

Jay Temaat hit three three-pointers to move into fifth place by himself on the Emporia State career made three-pointer list with 153.
