January 14, 2017-Kathryn Flott recorded her third double-double in the last four games with 19 points and 14 rebounds as the #2 Lady Hornets defeated Northeastern State 71-51 on Saturday afternoon in Tahlequah, Okla.

The teams were tied at 9-9 when Emporia State ended the quart on a 9-2 run to take an 18-11 lead into the second period. Addie Lackey had five points during the run.

The Lady Hornets would outscored the RiverHawks 17-19 in the second period to take a 35-20 lead at the break. Emporia State held Northeastern State to just 25% shooting in the second period.

A pair of Kelly Moten free throws gave Emporia State a 40-22 lead with 6:35 left in the third quarter. Northeastern State would close to within 12 on an old fashioned three-point play with 3:03 left in the third. The Lady Hornets then went on a 10-3 run to take a 52-33 lead on a Kyrstie Miller jumper with 24 seconds left in the period.

Northeastern State pulled within 15 points with 9:21 left when Emporia State went on an 8-1 run capped by back to back three-pointers from Lackey and Moten. From that point on the lead would stay between 19 and 22 points the rest of the way before Emporia State settled for the 71-51 victory.

Flott led Emporia State with 19 points and 14 rebounds. It is the third double-double in four starts since she returned from a broken bone in her wrist. She was joined in double figures by Kelly Moten with 16 points and Addie Lackey with 12 points. Shelby Baker grabbed a career high nine rebounds as the Lady Hornets outrebounded the RiverHawks 53-30.

With her 16 points, Kelly Moten became just the sixth Lady Hornet to score 1600 career points and now has 1609 points in 118 career games.
