EMPORIA STATE MEN FALL AT CENTRAL OKLAHOMA

Hornets held to 34.5% shooting

January 12, 2017-Emporia State scored the first two points of the game and that would be their only lead in a 90-64 loss at Central Oklahoma on Thursday night in Edmond, Okla.

Brian Morton scored on a layup 50 seconds into the game for Emporia State, but the Bronchos responded with six straight points to take the lead for good.  UCO used an 8-2 run to push the lead to double digits at 23-11 midway through the first half. An old-fashioned three-point play by Morton cut the lead to 32-24 with 7:22 left in the half, but the Bronchos responded with a 10-1 run to take a 42-25 lead with 4:28 remaining and the lead would not drop below ten the rest of the night.

The Hornets trailed 50-37 at the break and were down 82-63 with 2:33 left when the Bronchos ended the game on an 8-1 run for the final score of 90-64.

Brandon Hall led three Hornets in double figures with 13 points. He was joined in double digits by Josh Pedersen and Garin Vandiver with 12 each while Brian Morton and Tyler Jordan each scored nine.  Pedersen had a team high eight rebounds.

The Hornets are back in action on Saturday when they take on Northeastern State.  Tip-off from the NSU Event Center in Tahlequah, Okla. is set for 3:30 p.m.
