April 12, 2016-The Emporia State tennis teams begin the second to last week of the season with duals in Wichita, Kansas City and Emporia. The women start things on Tuesday against Newman in Wichita while the men take on Rockhurst on Wednesday in Kansas City. The women will then play a pair of MIAA matches in Emporia on Friday and Saturday. They take on Central Oklahoma on Friday and Northeastern State on Saturday at the Milton Courts.
HORNET WOMEN
The Emporia State women are 10-9 on the season and 2-5 in the MIAA.
Tawni Griffey leads the team from the top of the order. She is 15-4 in singles play, all at the #1 spot, where she is 7-0 in MIAA action. She has gone 13-6 in doubles action at both #1 and #2.
Kaley Clark is 14-5 in singles play, mostly at the #2 spot where she is 9-5. She is 10-9 in double play.
Amy Fugit is 12-6 on the season in singles and has gone 11-7 in doubles. She has spread her singles between the #3, #4 and #5 spots and has played all three doubles positions.
Sarah Durham is 9-1 in singles play with a 3-0 record in MIAA action, and is 8-3 in doubles action. She missed nine matches with a wrist and ankle injury.
Lori Ahuja is 10-9 in singles and 8-10 in doubles play.
Kristen and Kayla Fraley have filled out the #5 and #6 spot in singles along with the #3 doubles slot. Kayla Fraley joined the team before their spring break trip due to injuries.
HORNET MEN
The Hornet men are 13-5 on the year and 1-3 in the MIAA.
Gerard Pont and Matheus Mota have been the work horses of the team this year as each have played singles in 17 of the Hornets 18 duals. Matheus is 14-3 in singles and 11-6 in doubles play on the year. Pont has gone 13-4 in singles and 13-5 in doubles action.
Patrick Cameron is 9-7 in singles play with a 7-7 mark at #1 while going 11-5 in doubles action.
Keenan Smith is 11-5 in singles action, having played in five of the six positions. He is 8-4 in doubles with a 7-4 mark in the #1 spot.
Farhan Sadique is 11-1 in singles and 3-0 in MIAA play, playing mostly at #5 and #6. He is 11-3 in doubles with an 8-3 mark with Collin Connor in the #3 position.
Lukas Winkler is 9-2 in singles play and has gone 6-0 with four different partners in doubles.
Louis Ledin is 5-5 in singles play and 4-0 in doubles action.
Collin Connor has won his only three singles matches and is 9-4 in doubles.
