March 26, 2016-The Emporia State men's tennis team fell 6-3 at NAIA #12 McPherson on Saturday afternoon.
The Hornets won two of three doubles matches to take a 2-1 lead into singles. Keenan Smith and Matheus Mota won 8-4 at #2 while Farhan Sadique and Collin Connor took an 8-4 win at #3 doubles.
The Hornets lost five of six singles matches, but four of them went three sets. Lukas Winkler won 6-4, 2-6, 1-0 (10-8) for the only Emporia State win. Patrick Cameron at #1, Matheus Mota at #3, and Keenan Smith at #4 all won their first sets before falling in three. Farhan Sadique dropped his first set, battled back to take the second, then fell in the third set tiebreak.
The Hornets will return to Emporia on Monday, March 28 to take on William Jewell.
