EMPORIA STATE TENNIS SWEEPS TRUMAN IN NON-CONFERENCE ACTION

Hornet men win 9-0 while women get 6-3 victory

March 16, 2016-The Emporia State men and women's tennis teams each picked up non-conference wins at Truman on Wednesday.  The men improved to 10-1 on the year with a 9-0 victory while the women moved to 8-2 with a 6-3 win in Kirksville, Mo.

MEN'S ACTION
The Hornet men bounced back from their first loss of the season on Monday to post a sweep of the former MIAA opponent. Emporia State took 8-2 wins at #1 and #2 doubles before securing an 8-3 at #3 to take a 3-0 lead into singles play. 
Louis Ledin won 6-0, 6-0 at #4 singles and Patrick Cameron only dropped one game at #1 with a 6-1, 6-0 win. The Hornets also got victories at #2 singles by Gerard Pont, #3 by Matheus Mota, #5 singles by Keenan Smith and Farhan Sadique at #6 singles.

WOMEN'S PLAY
Lori Ahuja and Kaley Clark got the Emporia State women started with an 8-1 win at #2 doubles.  Kristen Fraley and Kayla Fraley lost 8-3 at #3 doubles in their first action together this year.  Tawni Griffey and Amy Fugit combined to win 8-4 at #1 doubles to give the Hornets a 2-1 lead going into singles action.
Emporia State got wins by Griffey, Clark, Fugit and Ahuja at #1-4 singles to clinch the team victory.

UP NEXT
The Hornets continue their four duals in four days in four cities road trip on Thursday when they take on Lindenwood.  The only MIAA action of the trip is set to begin a 1:00 p.m. in St. Charles, Mo.
