March 11, 2016-Both the Emporia State men and women rolled to wins against Colorado State-Pueblo on Friday at the EHS Courts.
 
MEN'S ACTION
In a title contested dual that saw three of the singles matches go three sets, Emporia State came out on top in all three to post an 8-1 win over Colo. State-Pueblo.  The Hornets and ThunderWolves split the first two doubles matches with Emporia State winning 8-3 at #2 and CSU-Pueblo taking an 8-6 win at #1.  The #3 team of Collin Connor and Farhan Sadique pulled out an 8-6 win at #3 to give the Hornets a 2-1 lead going into singles play.
Keenen Smith and Lukas Winkler made quick work of their opponents at #5 and #6 singles respectively to clinch the dual win.  Louis Ledin then got the third straight sets win for Emporia State at #2 singles.  Patrick Cameron at #1, Matheus Mota at #3 and Gerard Pont at #4 all dropped their first set before coming back to win in three sets and give the Hornets an 8-1 win.
 
WOMEN'S ACTION
The women began the dual up 2-0 due to Colo. State-Pueblo only having five players available.  The Hornets were able to go up 3-0 after doubles with a pair of 8-2 wins at #1 and #2 doubles in addition to a default win at #3.
Tawni Griffey clinched the dual with a 6-0, 6-1 win at #1 singles to put Emporia State up 5-0.  Lori Ahuja won 7-5, 6-3 at #5, Sarah Dunham took a 7-6, 6-1 win at #3 and Amy Fugit won at #4 singles 6-1, 6-4 before CSU-Pueblo picked up their only win in the final decision of the day at #2 singles.
 
UP NEXT
Both the men and women are back in action on Saturday when they take on Augustana (SD) at the EHS Courts.  First serve is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. weather permitting.
