#22 LADY HORNETS CLAIM BYE TO KANSAS CITY WITH 68-59 WIN OVER UCO

Kathryn Flott earns double double with 15 points and 12 rebounds

February 17, 2016 - The #22 Lady Hornets defeated Central Oklahoma Wednesday night in White Auditorium, clinching a bye in Kansas City for the MIAA Tournament.

GOOD START
Emporia State started the game on a 7-0 run in the first two and a half minutes, the first five points coming from Sandra Ngoie. Central Oklahoma answered back to tie the game 10-10 with 4:34 to play in the first quarter. The Lady Hornets ended the quarter on a 10-5 to lead 20-15 going into the second quarter and never trailed after that.

CONSISTENCY
The Lady Hornets outscored Central Oklahoma 21-15 in the second quarter to lead 41-30 going into the lockerroom. At halftime Kathryn Flott had 11 points and eight rebounds shooting five for nine from the field. Emporia State was five for nine from three point range and was shooting 51.7% from the field.

BRONCHOS CLOSE IN
Central Oklahoma outscored the Lady Hornets 21-16 in the third quarter to close the gap 57-51. The Bronchos would close the gap 52-48 at the 1:51 mark in the third quarter but the Lady Hornets would score the five of the last seven points of the quarter.

CLAIM MIAA TOURNAMENT SPOT
The first field goal of the fourth quarter, a Central Oklahoma three, came with 4:29 left to play, the Lady Hornets leading 61-54. Emporia State finished the game to win 68-59, claiming a spot in the MIAA Tournament.

BY THE NUMBERS
Four Lady Hornets earned double digits against the Bronchos. Kathryn Flott led with a double double of 15 points and 12 rebounds. Kelly Moten had 11 points and six assists. Moten passed Sheri Moore (1988-92 1,159 points) on ESU's all-time career scoring list to claim the 21 spot. Addie Lackey added another 11 points with four assists, shooting three for five from deep. Sandra Ngoie had ten points and three steals. Jacee Kramer had nine points. The Lady Hornets were perfect from the stripe, shooting 17 for 17.

The #22 Lady Hornets will host Northeastern State Saturday, Feb. 20 in White Auditorium. Tip off is at 1:30 p.m.
