December 8, 2016-The #1 Lady Hornets shot .561 from the field on the way to a 75-50 win at Neb.-Kearney on Thursday night in Kearney, Neb.
Emporia State jumped out to an 8-2 lead and never trailed in the game. The Lady Hornets led 17-10 at the end of the first period and used an 18-6 second period to lead 35-16 at the break.
 The Lady Hornets would lead by as many as 29 before settling for the 25 point victory to open MIAA play.
The Lady Hornets had five players in double figures led by Shelby Baker and Kyrstie Miler with 14 points each. Kelly Moten had 13 points while Addie Lackey and Jessica Wayne each scored ten. Miller had a team high eight rebounds while Megan Holloway had five assists to lead the Lady Hornets.
Top ranked Emporia State will travel to Hays, Kan. on Saturday to take on Ft. Hays State. Tip-off from Gross Memorial Coliseum is set for 2:00 p.m.

Baker had a career high 14 points.
The Lady Hornets are now 20-5 all-time when playing as the #1 team in the nation.
