November 19, 2016 - The #4 Lady Hornets defeated Kansas Christian 122-40 Saturday night in White to improve to 4-0 on the season. Emporia State had six players in double digits as all 12 Lady Hornets scored.
The Lady Hornets started off hot with back-to-back three pointers from Kyrstie Miller to take an early 6-2 lead. After the Falcons answered with two jumpers to close the gap 6-4 with 7:14 remaining in the first quarter, Emporia State went on a 16-4 run to take a 22-8 lead with 2:45 to play in the first quarter. Converting on five of six free throws in the last 1:40 of the first quarter, the Lady Hornets led 32-14 heading into the second quarter.
Kansas Christian scored the first basket of the second quarter to trail 32-16 with 9:21 left in the half. Emporia State went on a 15-3 run to expand the lead 47-19 with 3:53 to play in the second quarter. The Falcons had nine of the last 15 points in the first half to cut the lead 55-28 going into the locker room. At halftime Tiana Moala led the Lady Hornets with ten points and five rebounds in 11 minutes.
Emporia State had 20 points off of turnovers and allowed Kansas Christian only two points in the third quarter. In the fourth quarter, the Falcons had only ten points for a total of 12 points in the second half. In the second half alone, the Lady Hornets had 40 points in the paint.
Morgan Laudan led Emporia State with 17 points and 12 rebounds for a double-double. Five other players joined her in double digits, including Jacee Kramer with 15 points, Brittany Kramer with 14 points, Addie Lackey with 13 points and Moala and Miller both with 12 points. The Lady Hornets shot 56.3% from the field, had 13 three pointers and were 11 for 12 from the stripe. Jessica Wayne led with nine assists followed by Laudan with seven assists. Tatum Graves had four blocks on the night. Wayne, Brittany Kramer and Miller each had three steals.
The #4 Lady Hornets will play in the Drury Thanksgiving Classic in Springfield, Mo. on Friday, Nov. 25 and Saturday, Nov. 26. Emporia State will face Truman on Friday, Nov. 25 at 7:45 p.m.
