EMPORIA STATE MEN CAP DAY WITH 103-56 WIN OVER KANSAS CHRISTIAN

Hornets have 11 players with at least five points and two rebounds

November 19, 2016-All 11 Hornets that played scored at least five points with two rebounds as Emporia State rolled to a 103-56 win over Kansas Christian on Saturday night at White Auditorium.  It is the first time the Hornets have scored over 100 points twice in a season since 2013-14.

Emporia State jumped out to a 12-2 lead and never trailed in the contest.  The Falcons did close to within three points midway through the first half but an 11-2 run pushed the lead back to 12 at 291-7 with 6:21 left in the half. A 13-0 run in the second half was capped by a Stephaun Limuel fast break layup with 4:44 left and gave Emporia State a 90-49 lead. 

Brian Morton and Stephaun Limuel each scored 16 points off the bench to lead the Hornets in scoring.  They were joined in double figures by Jevon Taylor with 14 and Danny Hodge with ten points.  Limuel had a team high eight rebounds while Jawan Emery added seven boards. Morton had eight assists, four rebounds and three steals to go with his 16 points.

The Hornets are back in action on Tuesday night when they travel to Alva, Okla. to take on Northwestern Oklahoma State.  Tip-off is set for 7:00 p.m.

NOTES
Dwayne Paul was the acting head coach for the Hornets as Shaun Vandiver was inducted into the Colorado Athletics Hall of Fame this weekend in Boulder, Colo.
Emporia State's leading scorer Brandon Hall did not play due to a slight injury after logging 94 minutes in the first three games for the Hornets.
