November 15, 2016-The #4 Lady Hornets had six players in double figures in a 108-42 win over Tabor on Tuesday night in White Auditorium. Tiana Moala had a career high 22 points for Emporia State in the win.
The Bluejays had a 3-2 lead early but Moala hit her first five shots in under three minutes as the Lady Hornets took a 10-5 lead with 7:10 left in the quarter. Tabor would close to within 12-10 when Emporia State went on a 12-0 run to take a 24-10 lead with 1:09 left in the period.
The Lady Hornets took full control of the game in the second quarter with a 17-0 run. Six different players scored during the 3:39 run as Emporia State went up 47-15 with 4:31 left in the half.
Emporia State put the game away with a 25-7 advantage in the fourth quarter. Tabor scored all seven points in the first 4:23 of the period as Emporia State ended the game on a 16-0 run even as the Lady Hornets emptied their bench with 3:14 left in the game.
Moala finished the game ten of 13 from the field and two of three from the line for her 22 points to go with seven rebounds and three blocks. She was joined in double figures by Kelly Moten with 18 points, Jessica Wayne with 17 points, Jacee Kramer had 13, while Addie Lackey and Morgan Laudan each scored ten points. Shelby Baker had a team high eight rebounds and Moten dished nine assists, while Laudan had four steals. As a team Emporia State shot .642 from the field as they scored over 100 points in two of their first three games for the first time since 2005-06.
The Lady Hornets are back in action on Saturday night when they play host to Kansas Christian College. Tip-off is set for 5:30 p.m. following the #9 Emporia State football team's NCAA Playoff Game against #13 Minnesota-Duluth.
