EMPORIA STATE MEN FALL TO LINDENWOOD MONDAY NIGHT

Terrence Moore moves into tenth in ESU All-Time Scoring with 1,336 points

January 4, 2016-Lindenwood shot a blistering 57.1% from the field as they defeated Emporia State 71-56 on Monday night in White Auditorium. 

TIGHT EARLY
The two teams battled through the first 13 minutes of action with seven ties and five lead changes as the Hornets held a 23-20 lead with 8:05 left in the first.  The Lions then went on a 21-6 run to end the half and take a 41-29 lead into the break.

STAGNANT SECOND
The Hornets were held to just 29.4% shooting from the field in the second half.  Emporia State was five of 14 (35.7%) from behind the three-point line, but just five of 20 (25%) from inside the arc. Despite the low shooting, Lindenwood never took a lead of more than 20 points and was able to use a 7-0 run and close within 65-53 with 2:56 left. The Hornets would miss their next four shots from the field along with two free throws before Jay Temaat hit a three pointer with 35 seconds left. The Lions did not miss a shot during that time going two for two from the field and two for two from the free throw linefor the final score of 71-56.

THE NUMBERS
Terrence Moore led the Hornets with 12 points , five rebounds, four assists and three steals.  He was joined in double figures by Jay Temaat with 11 and Jevon Taylor with ten points.  Emporia State was outrebounded 41-24, but only had nine turnovers to Lindenwood's 18 on the night.

RECORD WATCH
Moore's 12 points give him 1,336 points and moved him past Shawn Herrman (1,331 from 2002-06) for tenth in career scoring at Emporia State.  Next on the list is Dale Chushinberry with 1,352 points from 1966-69.

UP NEXT
The Hornets are back on the road as they travel to Central Oklahoma on January 7.  Tip-off on Thursday from Edmond, Okla. is set for 7:30 p.m.
