September 3, 2015-Emporia State's Brent Wilson threw for 330 yards and three touchdowns while Mitchell Foote had a school record 88 yard punt return for a touchdown in the Hornets 38-20 win at Missouri Southern to open the season.  It is the fourth straight season opening win for the Hornets and they are now 18-7 in MIAA openers in their 25 years in the league.
THE NUMBERS
Brent Wilson was 25 of 36 for 33 yards with three touchdowns and two interceptions.  He also had 35 yards rushing for 365 yards of total offense.
Justin Brown was the leading receiver with five catches for 61 yards as eight different Hornets caught at least one pass for at least 12 yards.
Antonio Brown had 17 carries for 80 yards and a touchdown on the ground.
Jason Tetuan was the credited as the leading tackler with 12 stops.
Emporia State ended with 486 yards of total offense on 81 plays.
RECORD WATCH
Mitchell Foote had a school record 88 yard punt return for a touchdown that gave the Hornets a 24-10 lead.  The previous record was Brian Murphy's 82 yard return against Western State in the 2008 season opener.
Wilson now has 47 career touchdown passes and passed both Tad Hatfield and Pete Jelovic for second on the Emporia State career touchdown list.
THE LAST TIME
Wilson's 300 yard passing game was the first by a Hornet since he threw for 489 against Central Missouri last year.
Foote's punt return for a touchdown was the first by a Hornet since Lyndell Johnson returned one 69 yards last year against Central Oklahoma.
