May 1, 2015- Emporia State Baseball lost to Lindenwood 7-3 in the second game of the MIAA Opening Round Series.
After a scoreless first inning, Lindenwood put up two runs a piece in the top of the second and third innings, to make the score 4-0. Emporia State would come back with two runs of their own in the bottom of the fourth inning to make the 4-2 in favor of the Lions. The Hornets would add their final run in the bottom of the sixth inning. Lindenwood scored one run in the top of the seventh inning and their final two runs came in the top of the eighth inning to make the score 7-3.
Wade Degener, Drew Quinones, and Ryan Light all had homeruns for the Lions. The Hornets were lead offensively by Wade Hanna, Cody Bobbit and Dalton Wheat who all had a hit and an RBI.Â
The win went to Austin Klien of Lindenwood, he went 5.0 innings giving up two earned runs on six hits with two K"s. Garrett Bane got the loss for the Hornets, he went 2.1 innings and gave up two earned runs on five hits with one walk. The to save went Brendan Kleekamp who went 4.0 innings giving up 0 earned runs on one hit with two walks and three K's.
The two teams will play Game 3 of the MIAA Opening Round Series on Saturday, May 2, 2015 at 1 p.m. at Glennen Field.
