April 15, 2015- Emporia State Women's Tennis defeated Washburn on Wednesday by a score of 6-3.
In doubles play, Washburn won two of the three matches against the Hornets. Casyn Buchman and Jodie Blackim defeated Tawni Griffey and Cami Ramos 8-4 for the Ichabods. Kaley Clark and Amy Fugit lost a close match to Maggie Plum and Gwen Shepler 9-8. The lone doubles win for the Hornets was Taylor Smith and Tiffany Khounsombath against Maria Carretero and Nzingha Banks 8-2.
The Hornets turned things around in singles action, posting a 5-1 record on the day against the Ichabods. Griffey defeated Buchman 6-2, 6-1 . Blackim defeated Ramos for the solo singles win for Washburn. Smith was victorious against Carretero 6-2, 7-5. Clark beat Plum 6-2, 6-3. Fugit defeated Shepler 6-4, 6-4. The final victory for the Hornets was Khounsombath against Kirsten Holle 6-4, 6-2.
The Hornets are back in action Friday, April 17, 2015 when they vist Central Oklahoma. First serve is set for 2 pm.
