April 14, 2015- Emporia State Men's Tennis was victorious over Washburn 5-4 on Tuesday.
The Hornets started the day 2-1 in doubles play. Gerard Pont and Andrew Davids defeated Trey Horton and Martin Wieand, 8-4. The duo of Collin Connor and Payton Hayes defeated Daria Poletti and Todd Rilinger, 8-2 for the second Hornet victory of the day.
The only doubles loss for Emporia State was Keenan Smith and Sebastian Heimburger lost to Blake Hunter  and Matthew Barlow, 8-6.
The Hornets went 3-3 in singles action on the day. Smith lost to Wieand, 6-3, 6-4. Hunter defeated Heimburger 6-0, 6-0 for the second Ichabod singles win. Barlow defeated Pont, 6-0, 6-3 for Washburn's final win of the night.
Emporia State went on to win the next three singles matches. Davids defeated Horton 6-2, 6-2. Cameron was victorious Poletti, 6-2, 6-4. The final win for the Hornets was by Farhan Sadique who defeated Rilinger, 6-4, 6-1.
The Emporia State Men's Tennis Team is back in action April 18, 2015 when they face Lindenwood University at home, first serve is scheduled for 1:30 pm.
