April 1, 2015- Emporia State Women's Tennis plays with four players and falls to Fort Hays State on Wednesday.
The Hornets lost to Fort Hays by a score of 5-4.
The Hornets went 3-3 in singles action, with two of the losses coming by forfeit. Tawni Griffey pulled out a nail bitter against Camille Caron-Bedard, winning 4-6, 7-5, 11-9. Taylor Smith and Tiffany Khounsombath both won with a little more breathing room. Smith defeated Michelle Miller 6-0, 6-2 and Khounsombath defeated Katie Hipp 6-2, 6-3.
The doubles team of Griffey and Smith defeated Reinette Strydom and Caron-Bedard 8-6, for the Hornets lone doubles win of the day. Amy Fugit and Khounsombath were defeated by Brittney Ricci and Hipp 8-5. Â
Emopria State's next match will be Saturday, April 4, 2015 against Nebraska-Kearney in Kearney at 10 am.    Â
