March 29, 2015- Emporia State Baseball wins two games against Southwest Baptist on Sunday.
The Hornets won game one by a score of 9-5 over the Bearcats. Emporia State did their damage early, scoring all nine of their runs by the end of the third inning. The Bearcats were held scoreless until the sixth inning when they scored four, and added their final run in the top of the seventh inning.
Dean Long had two hits and three RBI's including a homerun. Johnny Hodges hit the first homerun of his career, a two run shot in the bottom of the first inning.
Garrett Bane got the win for the Hornets, he went 5.2 innings gave up zero earned runs on four hits, with 5 walks and a K. Shawn Talkington got the save, entering the game in the bottom of the seventh with the bases loaded and got two K's to end the game.
In game two Emporia State won 14-4. The Hornets scored at least one run in every inning except the first.
Evan Koehler had two homeruns in the game, with four RBI's and three runs scored. Aaron Gile also had a two run homer run for the Hornets on the day.
Jake Eikleberry got the win for the Hornets, going 6 complete innings, giving up three earned runs on nine hits with two walks and five strikeouts. Logan Johnson got the lose for the Bearcats, hew went 3.0 innings, gave up five earned runs on five hits with four strikeouts and two walks.
The Hornets are back in action Tuesday March 31, 2015 when they face Missouri Southern at 6 pm at Glennen Field.
