March 27, 2015-The Emporia State women's tennis team came from behind to defeat Missouri Western on Friday in Emporia.
The Hornet's went 1-2 in doubles play, with Tawni Griffey and Cami Ramos defeated Sarah Giraldo and Yasmine El Ghazi 9-8 (7-5). Kaley Clark and Amy Fugit lost to Sofia Aguilera and Ceara Boldridge 8-6 while Taylor Smith and Tiffany Khounsombath lost to Denise Chiao and Kayla Dysart 8-4.
The Hornets picked things up in singles action, going 5-1 on the night. Griffey defeated Giraldo 6-3, 6-3. Ramos defeated Aguilera 6-1, 6-2. Smith defeated Dysart 3-6, 6-1, 6-4. Clark defeated El Ghazi 7-5, 6-4. Fugit defeated Chiao 6-3, 6-3. Khounsombath lost to Boldridge 6-0, 7-6 (7-4).
The Hornets are back in action Sunday March 29, 2015 when they host Southeastern Oklahoma State at 1:30 p.m. at Milton Courts.  Â
