EMPORIA STATE DROPS DOUBLE HEADER AGAINST MISSOURI WESTERN

Emporia State drops both games of double header with Missouri Western

February 21, 2015- Emporia State Baseball team drops double header against Missouri Western. The Griffons won game one 5-1 and game two 5-3.

In game one, Emporia State got off to a 1-0 lead in the first inning on a Price Jacobs RBI. The Griffons answered with a run of their own in the first inning and adding three more runs by the third inning. The Hornets totaled seven hits and two errors with the Griffons posting nine hits and zero errors. Shawn Talkington got the lose for the Hornets, going 3.1 innings, allowing seven hits, three walks, and two strikeouts. The win went to AJ Martinez who threw 5.1 innings, allowed six hits, zero walks, and three strikeouts.

In game two, The Hornets and the Griffons each scored 2 runs in the first inning. The score remained tied until the 4th inning when the Griffons added another run in the 4th and 5th innings. Each team would add another run in the 8th inning, with the final score being 5-3 in favor of the Griffons. Travis Hendry took the lose for the Hornets on 6.0 innings pitched, allowing five hits and four runs, with five K's. Banks Born earned the win for Missouri Western after throwing 3.1 innings, allowing six hits and two runs, with two strikeouts.
