February 14, 2015-Jay Temaat had 20 points as Emporia State hit 11 three-pointers in the game but it was not enough as Central Oklahoma posted a 74-69 win over the Hornets on Saturday afternoon at White Auditorium.
The Hornets jumped out to a 14-5 lead with 15:01 left in the first half. The Bronchos would answer with a 13-0 run of their own to retake the lead at 18-14 with 9:42 left and were able to take a 34-31 lead into the break.
Central Oklahoma had a 64-52 lead with 5:47 left in the game and still led by 11 with 3:56 left when Emporia State made their final run. A Temaat three pointer capped a 8-0 run and cut the Bronchos lead to 68-65 with 1:13 left. Cal Andrews hit two free throws with 45 seconds left to push the lead back to five. Temaat hit his fifth three-pointer of the day with 33 seconds left to cut the lead to 70-68 but UCO would hit four of six free throws in the final 30.6 seconds to seal the win.
Temaat was joined in double figures by Terrence Moore with 13 points, five assists, four rebounds and three steals.
The Hornets will travel to Neb.-Kearney on Thursday, Feb. 19 needing a win to keep their hopes of a slot in the MIAA Tournament alive. Tip-off from the Health & Sports Center in Kearney is set for 7:30 p.m.
