December 19, 2015-Emporia State used a 7-1 run at the end of the game to post a 70-66 win at Pittsburg State on Saturday afternoon.
TWO RUNS
Emporia State controlled most of the game except for a pair of runs late in each half by Pittsburg State. The Hornets led 28-24 with 2:56 left in the first half when the Gorillas ended the frame on a 10-2 run and took a 34-30 lead into the break. Emporia State took a 61-54 lead with 5:49 left in the game only to see Pitt State rally with an 11-2 run to take a 65-63 lead with 2:16 remaining.
END RUN
Micah Swank gave the Hornets the lead with a three-pointer at the 1:20 mark only to see the Gorillas' Trey Sparks tie the score with a free throw with 1:06 remaining. Terrence Moore but the Hornets ahead for good with a layup with 23 seconds left and Josh Oswald iced the game with a pair of free throws with six seconds left.
THE NUMBERS
Oswald scored 19 points with eight rebounds to lead the Hornets. He was joined in double figures by Moore with 12 and Swank with 11 points.
