November 6, 2015-After tight first set that saw 11 ties and six lead changes, Emporia State fell in three sets to #13 Central Missouri on Friday night at White Auditorium.
FIRST SET TIGHTNESS
The Hornets held the Jennies to just .105 hitting in the first set and were able to fight off four set points before falling 27-25 in the opener. There were 11 ties and six lead changes among the opening 52 points in the set.
OPENING UP
The Jennies heated up in the second set, hitting .415 for the set in a 25-19 win. The Hornets were tied a 3-3 in the third set when UCM went on a 7-1 run to open the match.
THE NUMBERS
Shayla Cotman led Emporia State with a match high ten kills while Jamie Hauptman added eight kills on .333 hitting. Kelly Holden had a match high 12 digs while Danika Burton had five block assists.
UP NEXT
The Hornets will play their final home match of the season on Saturday against Lindenwood. First serve is set for 3:00 p.m. with seniors Torrie Rupe, Clair Simmons and Sydney Hartman being recognized prior to the match.
