November 24, 2015-Emporia State had five players in double figures as they posted an 80-72 win over Northwestern Oklahoma on Tuesday night on Slaymaker Court in White Auditorium.
SHARP SHOOTING
The Hornets were red hot in the first half, connecting on 55.6% of their shots including a seven of 11 effort from the three point line in the opening 20 minutes. Emporia State also hit 11 of 13 from the charity stripe in the first half. The Rangers had an early 4-2 lead when the Hornets went on an 11-2 run to take the lead. The teams stayed relatively close with Emporia State leading 27-24 with 5:21 left in the half. The Hornets would then go on a 10-0 run that was jump started by back to back three pointers from Jay Temaat. Layups off NWOSU turnovers gave the Hornets a 37-24 lead with 4:03 remaining. A Charles McKinney three-pointer gave the Hornets a 48-30 lead going to the locker rooms.
CHIPPING AWAY
McKinney opened the scoring in the second half with an alley oop dunk from Micah Swank that put the Hornets up by 20 with 19:33 left in the game. The Rangers would then begin to slowly cut into the lead until they had pulled within three at 66-63 with 3:48 remaining. Swank answered with the only three of the second half for the Hornets to put Emporia State back up by six with 3:24 left. A pair of free throws from Northwestern's Kevin Harkins cut the lead to four when McKinney got his second alley oop of the night, this one from Terrence Moore to up 71-65 at the 2:09 mark. Emporia State would then hit five of eight free in the final 1:25 to ice the win.
BALANCED ATTACK
Moore scored 16 points with seven assists adn six steals to lead five Hornets in double figures. Swank was four of six from the field with three treys for 14 points while Temaat went five of seven from the field with three trifectas for 14 points as well. Charles McKinney was five of six from the field for 11points while Joshua Oswald added ten points with a team high five rebounds for the Hornets.
MOVING ON UP
With his 16 points tonight, Terrence Moore moved past Ryan Sprecker (1,212 points from 1985-89) and Marvin Chatman (1,215 points from 1985-87) into 14th on the Emporia State career scoring chart with 1,220 points in 86 career games.

Emporia State travels to West Texas after Thanksgiving to take part in the Pak-A-Sak Classic at the First United Bank Center in Canyon, Texas. The Hornets will play Eastern New Mexico on Friday and the host West Texas A&M on Saturday.
