October 6, 2015 - Emporia State volleyball is swept, 25-18, 25-23, 25-17, by #12 Washburn in Topeka, Kan. in second Turnpike Tussle of the season.
TIGHT SECOND SET
The Hornets jumped out to an early 3-0 lead over the Ichabods on two Washburn ball handling errors and block assists from Shayla Cotman and Josie Williams. The Ichabods then took the lead, only for the teams to be tied at 17-17 after a kill from Cotman. The Hornets were the first ones to make it to 20, the final tie coming at 22-22. Two of the next three points for Washburn came on Hornet errors to end the game 25-23.
KEY PLAYERS
Josie Williams led the Hornets with eight kills and three block assists, followed by Emma Benton with seven kills and 13 digs. Shayla Cotman also added another three blocks assists with two solo blocks of her own. Kelly Holden had a match high 20 digs against the Ichabods.

Emporia State will travel to Hays, Kan. on Friday, Oct. 9 for a 7:00 p.m. match against the Tigers of Fort Hays State.
