October 30, 2015-Emporia State saw their chance to host a first round MIAA Tournament game disappear with a late 1-0 loss to Washburn on Friday night at the EHS Pitch. The Hornets will need to defeat or tie Neb.-Kearney on Sunday to guarantee a spot in the post season tournament.
Most of the match was played on the Hornets attacking side of the field as Emporia State was credited with 20 shots and four corner kicks to just nine shots and one corner for Washburn. After a scoreless first 75 minutes in the rain, the Ichabods scored on a Morgan El-Attrache goal with 15:29 left to take a 1-0 lead.
The Hornets are back in action on Sunday afternoon against Neb.-Kearney. Kick-off for the Senior Day match is set for 2:00 p.m. at the EHS Pitch.
