October 23, 2015-Emporia State posted their second straight shutout with a 3-0 blanking of Neb.-Kearney in non-MIAA action on Friday night in Kearney, Neb. It is the Hornets seventh shut out of the season and sixth game with at least three goals.
PLAY IN FRONT
The Hornets jumped on top in the 13th minute as Grace Linton scored her fifth goal of the season off an assist from Maria Walden. Jacki Martinek then scored on a break away in the 27th minute to put Emporia State up 2-0. Martinek then assisted on a corner for the final goal as Jaide Allenbrand converted in the 71st minute.
BACK IN GOAL
Yadira Rivera returned to goal keeper for the Hornets after missing the Southwest Baptist game. She had two saves and faced just six shots in the match as she recorded her 22nd career shutout.
ALMOST THERE
The Hornets have won nine games for just the fourth time in school history and only the third time in regular season play. The school record for wins in a season is ten set in 2001 and tied in 2004, while playing 20 regular season matches in each of those years.

Emporia State will travel to Hays, Kan. on Sunday afternoon to take on Ft. Hays State for the second time this season. The MIAA contest is set to kick-off at 2:00 p.m.
