January 5, 2015-Despite shooting 58.3% from the field in the second half, the Emporia State men could not overcome an 18.5% effort in the first half as they fell 67-49 to Lindenwood on Monday night in White Auditorium.
Micah Swank gave Emporia State their only lead of the game on a layup with 18:21 left in the half and the Hornets trailed 6-5 with 15:29 left when the Lions went on a 17-2 run. Lindenwood then ended the half on a 6-0 run to take a 40-13 lead into the locker rooms.Â
The Hornets were much more aggressive and matched their first half scoring output in the first 5:21 of the second half. A 14-1 run cut the Lions lead to 14 at 50-36 with 10:52 left. Terrence Moore, who had scored 12 points in the first nine minutes of the half, picked up his fourth foul with 10:36 remaining and the Lions went on a 13-1 run to seal the win.
Moore had a game high 25 points and four steals and was joined in double figures by Perryonte Smith with ten points.Â
The Hornets will begin a five game road trip on Thursday at Missouri Western. Tip-off from the MWSU Fieldhouse in St. Joseph, Mo. is set for 7:30 p.m.
