January 28, 2015-In the first game back in White Auditorium since January 5, the Emporia State men shot just 33.3% from the field and four of 21 from the three-point line in a 66-44 loss to Ft. Hays State. It was the fewest points scored by the Hornets against the Tigers since a 56-44 loss in 1960.
Emporia State jumped out to a 7-3 lead with 16:52 left in the first half before Ft. Hays State went on an 11-3 run to take the lead for good. The Hornets cut the lead to three at 20-17 with 7:19 left but the Tigers would end the half on another 11-3 run to take a 28-20 lead into the break.
The Tigers scored the first nine points of the second half before Emporia State got on the board with a Terrence Moore jumper at the 14:18 mark. An old-fashioned three-point play from Micah Swank cut the lead to 37-25 with 14:01 left when the Tigers went on a 16-4 run to take their biggest lead of the night at 53-29 with 8:53 left. The Hornets would not get closer than 17 the rest of the night.
Moore led Emporia State with 12 points and tied his career high with six steals. Swank joined him in double figures with 11 points and a team high six rebounds and five assists.
The Hornets are back in action on Sunday when they play host to Neb.-Kearney. Tip-off from White Auditorium is set for 3:00 p.m.

Moore moved passed Dale Northup into 22nd place on the Emporia State career scoring chart with 1,023 points.
