January 14, 2015-The Emporia State men led by five points with 2:33 left only to see Pittsburg State score the final six points in a 59-58 Gorilla win on Wednesday in Pittsburg.
The Hornets used a 12-5 run to take a nine point lead with 3:49 left in teh first half on Tyler Jordan's old fashioined three-point play. The Gorillas scored the final seven points of the half to go to the locker room leading 33-32.
Pitt State had a 41-36 lead with 15:14 left in the game when Emporia State went on an 8-0 run to take a 44-31 lead with 10:35 remaining. The Hornets went up 58-53 with 2:41 left on a pair of McWisdom Badejo free throws. Pitt State scored the next six points capped by a Josiah Gustafson layup with 1:06 left. It would be the last points of the game for either team. Dakota Jones missed a pair of free throws for the Gorillas with six seconds left and Terrence Moore could not get his floater to fall as time expired.
Jevon Taylor led the Hornets with 13 points while Micah Swank added ten points.
Emporia State will have a bye on Saturday and then travel to Northeastern State on Wednesday, January 21. Tip-off is set fro 7:30 p.m. in Tahlequah, Okla.
