KANSAS CITY HERE WE COME
The undefeated Emporia State volleyball team travels to Kansas City to take on the Rockhurst Hawks in the first single match road contest of the season. Both teams are 4-0 entering tonight's match.

LAST TIME OUT
For the second straight match the Emporia State volleyball battled their way to a thrilling five set victory, taking a 3-2 win over William Jewell on Tuesday night in White Auditorium. With the win the Hornets improved to 4-0 on the season. Josie Williams led Emporia State with 18 kills and 26 digs on the night.  Carly Spicer also had a double-double with 13 kills and 23 digs.  Courtney Haring joined them in double figures with 12 kills and added six blocks.  Kelly Holden had 21 digs to give the Hornets three players with at least 20 digs in the match.  Kimberly Bell had a match high 30 assists and added 12 digs of her own.

THE COACHES
Bing Xu is 215-86 in his tenth year as the head coach at Emporia State.  He has led the Hornets to five NCAA Tournament appearances and has won at least 18 matches in each of the last seven seasons. He is 3-2 against Rockhurst.
Tracy Rietzke is 1,095-246 in his 27th seasons as the head coach at Rockhurst.  He is 6-12 against Emporia State.

SCOUTING THE HORNETS
Emporia State is 4-0 on the season with five set wins in their last two matches.  Carly Spicer leads the MIAA in kills at 4.83 per set.  She had career highs of 21 kills and 16 digs against Illinois-Springfield on Saturday.

SCOUTING THE HAWKS
Rockhurst is 4-0 on the season with three wins over MIAA schools at the Rockhurst Invitational over the weekend. The Hawks took a pair of 3-1 wins over Missouri Western and Northwest and swept Pittsburg State. They are receiving votes in this week's AVCA National Poll.

SERIES HISTORY
This will be the 20th meeting between Emporia State and Rockhurst with the first meeting in 1987. The Hornets lead the all-time series 12-7 with the last meeting coming in 2011.

LAST TIME AGAINST ROCKHURST
Then #17 Emporia State took a 3-2 win over Rockhurst on Sept. 7, 2011 in White Auditorium. Paige Vanderpool had a monster match for the Hornets with 26 kills and 24 digs.

NEXT SERVE
The Hornets travel to Topeka for the first installment of the Turnpike Tussle against #10 Washburn. First serve from Lee Arena is set for 7:00 p.m.
