April 18, 2014-The Emporia State men's tennis team is in action on Friday against Newman in the next to last home dual of the season. First serve is set for 2:30 p.m. at the Milton courts on the Emporia State campus.
The Hornets are 9-7 on the season, the most wins since going 9-9 in 2008. With at least three duals left, two regular season and at least one in the MIAA Tournament, they have a chance to become the first Emporia State men's team with ten wins since the 2007 team went 10-7.
Diego Prudencio is 10-6 on the year, all at #1 singles, while Payton Hays is 11-3 on the year with a 7-3 mark at #6 singles.
Newman is 9-10 on the season and are coming off a win in their last match against McPherson. The two teams met back in September in Wichita with Emporia State coming away with a 5-4 victory.
The Hornets will play their final regular season dual on Tuesday, April 22 against Ottawa at the Milton Courts before heading to Springfield, Mo. for the MIAA Tournament beginning on Friday, April 25.
