April 11, 2014-The Emporia State tennis teams are on the road this weekend for a total of six duals in four cities over three days.
The action starts on Friday with the Emporia State women taking on Ft. Hays State in an MIAA dual in Hays, Kan. at 2:00 p.m. At 4:00 p.m. the Hornet men will take on Hastings College in Hastings, Neb. Saturday the teams reunite to take on Neb.-Kearney in Kearney before heading to Lincoln on Sunday to play Neb. Wesleyan.
The Emporia State women are 14-5 overall and 6-2 in the MIAA. They were ranked sixth in the first official NCAA Division II Central Regional Rankings this week. Ft. Hays State is 7-8 on the season and 2-5 in the MIAA. Neb.-Kearney is 15-6 on the season and one game behind Emporia State in the loss column in MIAA play at 4-3 entering the weekend. The Lopers are #7 in this week's NCAA Central Regional Rankings. Neb. Wesleyan is an NCAA Division III school that is 7-8 on the season and has won five straight duals.
The Hornet men are 8-6 on the year and 0-4 in MIAA play. Hastings is an NAIA school that is 7-11 on the year. Neb.-Kearney is 14-4 overall and 1-2 in the MIAA and are ranked third in this week's NCAA Central Regional rankings. Neb. Wesleyan is 7-7 on the year.
