February 22, 2014-The Emporia State men remained undefeated and handed McPherson College their first loss fo the season with a 5-4 win in Salina on Saturday afternoon.
The Hornets took two of three doubles matches to take a 2-1 lead into singles. McPherson won three of the first five singles matches played, leaving the decision to the #6 singles position. Payton Hays dropped the first set 6-3 before evening the match with a 6-2 victory in the second set. In the tiebreaker Hays was down two match points before he rallied to post an 11-9 victory and move the Hornets to 6-0 on the season.
Emporia State is back in action on Friday, Feb. 28 when both the men and women host Rockhurst. First serve at the EHS Courts is set for 12 noon.
