EMPORIA STATE FOOTBALL DEFEATS LINDENWOOD 37-22

Ty Reasnor gets win in first start as Hornet QB

October 4, 2014-Making his first career start Ty Reasnor was 30 of 37 for 196 yards with three touchdowns as Emporia State defeated Lindenwood 37-22 on Saturday at Jones Field at Welch Stadium. 

The Hornets scored on the opening possession on a 34 yard field goal from Austin Morton with 10:11 left in the first quarter.  Emporia State made it 9-0 on a six yard pass from Reasnor to Kavaski Ervin with 5:26 left in the second quarter.  Reasnor then led the Hornets on a five play, 80 yard drive and connected with Mitchell Foote on an eight yard touchdown pass with 45 seconds left in the half. 

Reasnor and Ervin connected on a 16 yard pass on the opening drive of the second half to go up 23-0. Antonio Brown scored on a six yard run to give the Hornets a 30-0 lead with 8:22 left in the third quarter.

Lindenwood got on the board with a ten yard pass from Graham Lindham to Sam Sealer with 2:42 left in the third quarter to close within 30-8.  Kadeem Satchell gave the Hornets a 37-8 lead with a 39 yard interception return with 8:07 left in the game.  Lindham and Jaron Alexander connected twice in the final 6:18 of the game, the last coming with 20 seconds left for the final 37-22 score.

Reasnor connected with seven different players all with at least three receptions. Ervin had five catches for 43 yards and two touchdowns.  Brown had 104 yards rushing on 17 carries with a touchdown.

Emporia State is back in action on Oct. 11 when they travel to Pittsburg State.  Kick-off from Carney Smith Stadium is set for 2:00 p.m.
