HORNETS TRAVEL OVER WEEKEND
Emporia State will play MIAA road matches on back-to-back nights this weekend.

MIAA WIN NO. 2 AND 200TH FOR XU
Emporia State evened their record in the MIAA with a 3-2 win over Missouri Western on Sept. 21.

THE COACHES
Bing Xu is 200-77 in his ninth year as head coach at Emporia State. Xu has led the Hornets to the NCAA Division II Regional Tournament in five of the last eight seasons. In 2008 he led Emporia State to its first MIAA Championship. He is 7-0 against Central Oklahoma and 11-6 versus Pittsburg State.
Edgar Miraku is 23-20 in his second season as head coach at Central Oklahoma. The Bronchos were 13-18 in Miraku's first season at the helm. He is 0-1 against Emporia State.
Ibraheem Suberu is 252-228 in his 15th season as head coach at Pittsburg State. He is 10-20 against Emporia State.

SCOUTING THE HORNETS
Emporia State is 7-3 overall and 1-1 in the MIAA. Freshman Josie Williams is averaging a team best 2.64 kills per set on .143 hitting. Kelly Holden leads the team with a 4.51 digs per set average. Courtney Haring leads the Hornets with 42 blocks.

SCOUTING THE BRONCHOS
Central Oklahoma is 10-2 overall and 2-1 in the MIAA. The Bronchos lost 3-0 to Nebraska-Kearney in their last match. Barbara Jackson leads the team in kills with 154 while Tate Hardaker has a team high 268 digs.

SCOUTING THE GORILLAS
Pittsburg State is 4-7 overall and 1-2 in the MIAA. The Gorillas are coming off their first MIAA win of the season 3-0 against Fort Hays State. Crystal Whitten leads the Gorillas with 151 kills. Jordan Rhem has 184 digs for Pitt State.

SERIES RECORDS
Emporia State leads the all-time series against both weekend foes. The Hornets have a 10-3 advantage over Central Oklahoma and are 66-21 all-time against Pittsburg State.

LAST TIME VS. UCO & PSU
The Hornets defeated the 3-0 on Nov. 2, 2012 in Edmond, Okla. Emporia State lost to Pittsburg State 3-1 in Pittsburg on Nov. 3, 2012.

IN THE MIAA
Courtney Haring is third in the MIAA in hitting at .401 on the season in the latest conference report. Central Oklahoma's Juliette Smith is 8th on that list same list hitting .335. Tate Hardaker is first in the league in digs with an average of 6.24. The Gorillas's Jordan Rhem and Hornets' Kelly Holden are 2nd and 5th respectively in digs per set average.

The Hornets will return home on October 4 and 5 for MIAA action against #6 Nebraska-Kearney and Fort Hays State. The match on the 4th versus the Lopers will start at 7:00 p.m. while the match against the Tigers will begin at 3:00 p.m. Adult GA tickets for all home games are just $5.00.
