November 19, 2013 - Emporia State fell in the first round of the MIAA Tournament in three sets to Central Oklahoma.
Senior Paige Vanderpool led the Hornets with 14 kills in her final collegiate match and finished with a double-double by adding 14 digs. Katie Deutschmann and Josie Williams each contributed eight kills.
The Hornets dropped the oppening set 14-25, but battled back to lead as late as 23-22 in the second set. The Bronchos ended up winning the second set 28-26.
Emporia State had seven leads in the third set before UCO finished with a 25-19 win.
The Hornets finish the season with an 18-11 record. Seniors Brianna Kaiser and Emily Barto also played in their final matches for Emporia State.
