GETTING STARTED AT HOME   
The #5 Lady Hornets make their regular season debut on Slaymaker Court/White Auditorium when they play host to Tabor. Emporia State is 33-6 all-time in season openers. The Lady Hornets have won 16 straight home openers in White Auditorium and are 31-3 in home openers since 1979.  
 
LAST TIMEOUT
-Laura Patrick had 20 points, 14 rebounds and four assists to lead #5 Emporia State to a 68-59 win at Newman. The Lady Hornets jumped out to a 13-2 lead before the Jets answered with a 12-0 run to take a 14-13 lead with 9:04 left in the first half.  An 11-0 run gave the Lady Hornets the lead back at 26-17 before Newman scored the final six points of the half to send the teams to the locker rooms with Emporia State leading 26-23. A 10-2 run in the second half gave the Jets their final lead at 41-40 with 11:18 left in the game before a Rheanna Egli old fashioned three-point play gave the Lady Hornets the lead for good. Patrick was joined in double figures by Kionna Kellogg with 16 points while Amber Vandiver added 11 rebounds.

THE COACHES
Jory Collins is 70-27 in his fourth year as the head coach of the Lady Hornets. He has 12 career wins against Top 25 teams seven wins in the last eight match-ups. This is his 13th season on the Lady Hornet coaching staff and Emporia State has advanced to the NCAA tournament in 11 of those seasons. This is his first meeting with Tabor.
Shawn Reed is 28-36 in his third year at Tabor. This is his first meeting with Emporia State.

ABOUT THE LADY HORNETS
Emporia State is 4-0 with two wins over teams that were in the NCAA Tournament last year and received votes in this year's WBCA Preseason Poll. They lead the MIAA in rebounding and rebound margin. Merissa Quick is averaging 12.0 points and 7.8 rebounds per game while Laura Patrick is averaging 14.0 points and 6.8 boards per game. Seven players have scored in double figures in a game this season.
   
ABOUT THE BLUE JAYS
Tabor is 1-5 on the season with the one win against NAIA #10 College of the Ozarks. They have yet to play a home game this season after going 20-10 last season.  Janelle Rust is the leading scorer on the season at 12.7 points per game.  

THE SERIES    
The Lady Hornets lead the all-time series 5-0 but have not met since Nov. 16, 2009. The Blue Jays are the last team the Lady Hornets failed to draw 1,000 fans against, playing in front of 947 during a 103-38 victory on Nov. 24, 1997.

LAST TIME VS. TABOR
The #15 Lady Hornets placed five players in double figures in a 103-44 win in the final game of the 2008 Lady Hornet Classic. Tourney MVP Ida Edwards had ten points and 16 rebounds for Emporia State.

UP NEXT
The #5 Lady Hornets play host to #10 Midwestern State in the second top ten match-up of the season for Emporia State. Tip-off is set for 7:00 p.m. on Slaymaker Court in White Auditorium.
