Hornets win third straight match to move to 8-4

September 22, 2012 - Emporia State volleyball completed a sweep of Pitt State 25-17, 25-17, 25-13 at White Auditorium, led by 15 digs from Meg Schwartz and 12 kills by Katie Deutschmann.

The Hornets improve to 8-4, 2-1 MIAA. The Gorillas are now 8-6, 0-5 MIAA.

Brianna Kaiser and Morgan Buckner provided eight kills each in the straight set win, while Paige Vanderpool had seven kills, nine digs, and four service aces.

The Hornets attack was working well, committing only nine attack errors in the match.

The second set saw four ties and four lead changes, and was the most closely contested set. The Hornets reeled off six straight points with the scores tied at 8-8 to close out the set and match. 

The Hornets are in action Tuesday when they take on Newman at 7 p.m. in Wichita, Kan.
