ESU women to take on SBU in semifinals

April 21, 2012-The Emporia State women's tennis team advanced to the MIAA Tournament semifinals with a 5-0 win over Ft. Hays State on Friday while the Hornet men saw their season come to an end with a 6-0 loss to Truman. The MIAA Tournament is being held at the Plaza Tennis Center in Kansas City, Mo.

The women swept the doubles and got wins by Nicole Jara at #1 and Alex Crowe at #4 to seal the win against Ft. Hays State.

The men fell behind 3-0 after doubles although Andrew Davids and Mat Edwards forced a tiebreaker before falling 7-5 in the breaker at #1 doubles. ESU then lost at #2, #5 and #6 singles to end the match.

The Hornet women will now take on top seeded Southwest Baptist at 1 p.m. with the winner advancing to the tournament championship at 11 a.m. on Sunday.
