March 5, 2012-The Emporia State tennis teams were both defeated by Rockhurst on Monday night at the EHS Tennis Courts. The Hornet men were swept 9-0 by the #31 Hawks while the ESU women took two matches against the RU women.
Nicole Jara gave ESU a win at #1 singles over Maureen Rielley. Jara won 7-6 (7-2), 3-6, 10-7 over the #7 ranked player in the Midwest Region. Abby Morris had the other win for the Hornets with a 7-6 (7-5), 3-6, 10-5 win over Leigh-Anne Fourie at #6 singles in the first dual loss for the ESU women.
Both Hornet teams are scheduled to be back in action on Wednesday with two duals in two cities. ESU will begin the day in Hillsboro, Kan. against Tabor at 12 noon and then head to Newton, Kan. for 5 p.m. duals against Bethel.
