March 30, 2012-The Emporia State tennis teams fell to Nebraska-Kearney in both men's and women's action on Friday afternoon at the EHS Courts.  The women were edged 5-4 while the men fell 8-1.

Nicole Jara improved to 14-0 on the season with a 6-4, 3-6, 1-0 (12-10) victory over Vanessa Gunawan at #1 singles.  Gunawan entered the match ranked #1 in the Central Region for the Lopers.  The win is Jara's third over a regionally ranked opponent. Taylor Smith picked up a win at #2 singles with a 6-3, 6-2 win at #2 singles. Jara and Smith teamed to win 8-5 at #1 doubles over UNK's Gunawan and Connolly. ESU's other win came at #5 singles as Emily Huston defeated Nikola Messbarger 6-2, 6-3.

Christian Lollar had the only win for the Hornet men with a 3-6, 6-4, 1-0 (13-11) win at #6 singles.

ESU returns to action on Saturday as they travel to Truman. First serve in Kirksville, Mo. is set for 3 p.m.
