October 30, 2012 - Paige Vanderpool recorded a double-double with 13 kills and 14 digs as the Emporia State volleyball team fell to #4 Nebraska-Kearney 25-18, 25-15, 25-19 at White Auditorium in Emporia, Kan.
Vanderpool leads the team with seven double-doubles on the year.
Meg Schwartz led the Hornets in digs with 19, while Brianna Kaiser added 14. Kaiser also posted seven kills. Katie Deutschmann had six kills, 18 assists, and two total blocks. Schwartz, Kaiser, and Kaitlin Stearns all served aces for Emporia State.
The Lopers hit .275 for the match and did well to keep the Emporia State offense in check, holding the Hornets to a .045 hitting percentage.
Katie Sokolowski led Nebraska-Kearney with 15 kills.
Emporia State is now 16-9, 6-6 MIAA. Nebraska-Kearney is now 27-2, 13-2 MIAA.
The match was the Hornets' annual Dig for the Cure Night, and the Hornets wore pink jerseys to highlight Breast Cancer awareness.
Emporia State is back in action Friday, with a road match at Central Oklahoma. First serve from Hamilton Fieldhouse is scheduled for 6:00 p.m.
