January 18, 2012-Freshman Merissa Quick scored 20 points with seven rebounds and a career high seven blocked shots as the #20 Emporia State Lady Hornets defeated Ft. Hays State 81-70 on Wednesday night in White Auditorium. 

The Lady Hornets trailed early, twice going down by nine points in the first half. Trailing 27-19, ESU went on a 15-2 run and took a 34-29 lead on Rachel Hanf's three pointer with 25 seconds left.  Traci Keyser answered with seven seconds left for FHSU as the Lady Hornets took a 34-32 lead into the half.

ESU scored the first four points of the second half and never trailed the rest of the night.  The Lady Hornets hit ten straight free throws over the last 2:53 to ice the win.

Quick was joined in double figures by Heather Robben with 18 points, Hanf with 15 points, Jocelyn Cummings with 12 and Kelsey Balcom with 10 points and a team high 12 rebounds.

The Lady Hornets are back in action on Sunday, January 22 when they play host to Northwest Missouri.  Tip-off in White Auditorium for Military Appreciation Day is set for 1:30 p.m.

Hanf hit three three-pointers to move past Aneta Kausaite for ninth place in career made threes at ESU.
